Kayak Challenge Family & Friends brings kayakers, SUP and dragon boaters to the start, along with puppies
The Kayak Champions Club announces the fifth edition of the Kayak Challenge Family & Friends competition, which is exclusively aimed at amateur kayakers, Stand Up Paddle or dragon boat athletes. On May 16, on Titan Lake in Alexandru Ioan Cuza Park, Bucharest, all those who want to test their skills in speed or technique races are welcome. The competition also includes fun races for families or puppies, in double kayaks.
Some of the most popular events are the puppy race or the family event, where the emphasis is on fun and teamwork. The event also includes a race dedicated to para canoe athletes with physical disabilities.
“The event started as a game, as an experiment, to offer novice athletes a competition between friends. Through all our activities we promote an active lifestyle, practiced in the family, that is why we naturally included events dedicated to extended family, including pets. Beyond the way Kayak Challenge Family & Friends has grown from year to year, what makes us most happy is that more and more children or adults have discovered and started practicing kayaking or SUP thanks to this competition. We want it to be one of the most inclusive competitions for water sports: we are waiting for children, adults, people with disabilities and puppies at the start. Everyone finds their place here!”, explains Marian Baban, president of Kayak Champions.
The event includes 8 competition categories:
1. Short course kayak, 200 m (female and male) – registration fee 90 lei;
2. Long distance kayaking, 1000 m (female and male) – registration fee 130 lei;
3. Relay, 400 m (200 m x 2), mixed team of 2 people – registration fee 150 lei/ team;
4. Double family kayaking, 200 m – registration fee 150 lei/ team of 2 members. 2 family members can participate, in any combination: husband – wife, parent – child of at least 4 years old, grandfather – grandson, etc.;
5. Double puppy kayaking, 200 m – registration fee 130 lei/ team man-dog;
6. Stand UP Paddle, 200 m (female and male) – registration fee 90 lei;
7. Para canoeing, 200 m (female and male);
8. Dragon boat, team of 11 people (corporate & professionals).
Participants will have kayaks or SUP boards provided, within the limit of available places.

The award ceremony for all winners will take place starting at 1:30 PM, in ParkLake Garden. In addition, all registered participants will be able to participate in a raffle, with surprise prizes from partners.
